So the Blah Blah Blah continues. I think it is great that Porsche plans to make a V-8 sports car just personally fail to see that it will have much to do with a 928 which is fine with me. Just do not call it a 928 !
911 vs 996 is a good example of what you are saying, but it is still linked. The 928 is gone. You can bet that Porsche knows that if they do produce a front engined V8, it will undoubtedly be linked to the 928 whether they like it/embrace it or not. Reality is, they are known for rear engine cars and had produced 1 front engine car that DID get noticed. To ignore this fact is like any of our presidents trying to hide their past...(it gets embarrassing when it is drug out of the closet)...however, if presented in a way of pointing out the finer things of the 928, it would more likely be an advantage. 928's didn't suck! Not sure why many insist on repeating what a failure it was and why Porsche would be so embarrassed by them.

My money is on the new car what ever the hell they call it. Would I be able to afford, well, I hope so (I try to be optimistic). I don't think Porsche puts out cheap product. To stay in business, you do have to concentrate on sales and keeping costs down. If Porsche WAS so driven by sales, they wouldn't even consider this car...it's such a small high end market. I do think that times are different and there is and has been a new generation of Porsche owners that have come along. The Cayenne proved this. Incidentally, how well do you think the Cayenne would have done from 1977 to 1995? The "rear engine til I die" guys aren't the mass majority of Porsche buyers or admirers these days.

No matter, this conversation is going to come up several times over the next few years and everyone will be speculating what will happen, what it will be called and if it will have any remote relation to what ever anyone thinks a 928 is or was.

Maybe they will build it in US and race Nascar with it.

Ok, that was a joke.
But I kinda like that first set of pics.

Toyota will be there, maybe it's not so far fetched.
