Default Ques- CIS green wire polarity

OK, I have gotten some guidance that the distributor pick up wire on my CIS car runs the positive signal through the outside wire shielding and that the inner core is negative. I don't read electrical schematics well, but the diagram seems to me to bear this out.

It puzzles me though, since I've seen so many with exposed outer shielding, and I would think that running the positive charge on the outside would raise the risk of inducing a signal through the ground wire if any cracks occurred in the insulation.

Can anyone tell me for sure which is pos/neg to assuage my fears about getting it wrong?
Thanks

The distributor pick-up is a Hall Effect sensor.

see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hall_effect

The output of the Hall sensor signal goes to the transistor ignition box via the center cable. The output line is shielded externally - and this shielding is grounded to the same circuit as the ground side of the Hall sensor.

OK, thanks. one is '7' and one is 31d' on the schematics I think. I'll try to sort which is ground.
