928 Owners Club International Converntion
UPDATE June 16th

Hi all,

I have heard back from, "The Track at Centennial", with regard to taking some hot laps in their fast go-carts. They are giving us basically a 2 for 1 package, what they will do for us is, allow 10 of us at a time to run the track for 10 minutes; to get use to the track, then we will stage the grid for a 10 minute race. How's that for fun!!! They supply the racing suits and helmets, all we have to do is bring $35.00 track side for this event. That is half the nomal cost to drive the track for 20 minutes. So get ready for some high speed fun right after the car show on Saturday afternoon (3:30pm).

Everything is set for the Convention, all we need is for next Thursday to get here fast. I'm excited to see everyone and their 928's and I hope you are too. We are going to have a BLAST!

Default Rides from Denver Airport

I just wanted to let everyone know that if they are flying in Thursday evening and plan to come in around 6 I would be glad to give them a ride to the event. I am working in Downtown Los Angeles next week but will be ready to go Thursday evening!

Erik, has been working tirelessly but was able to break away and have a couple of Coronas at my place last weekend. He was even wearing his fancy 928 pictured name bage. Very cool!

See you all here next weekend.

It was more that I'm new and they didn't want to deal with trying to change the flight. I'm traveling with my boss and his boss.

Who's planning to be at Thursday night's meet and greet?

Who's driving up to Estes Park on Friday?

We're planning to do both.

Sorry guys, change of plans. I won't be able to make it to Denver after all.
I'm neck deep in leather parts that some of you guys are waiting for and I didn't have time to do my T-belt.

Next time I hope.

I won't be at anything in Colorado on Thursday night, 'cause I won't get my car back until tomorrow (but it will have COLD AC )and won't be leaving until later. I still want to get an alignment in SLC, but maybe I'd better stop in Nevada at a casino to "earn some coins" to pay for it....
Guess I'll sneak in a bit after everyone else. Still haven't heard of anyone caravaning up to I-70.

Hello all 928’ers

This should be my last, but most complete UPDATE for the 928 Owners Club International Convention 2006 in Denver, Colorado, starting this Thursday June 22. First, let me thank all of you for being part of this convention. Both Richard Lang and I have been planning this event for almost two years now, and finally this week we will see it all come to fruition. Many, many thanks!

Itinerary:

6:30-10:00pm The convention starts! Please join us upstairs on the Mezzanine level at the hotel bar. Food will be available, (nacho station, Buffalo style wings and cheese and crackers) and full bar (cash, credit cards accepted at the bar). 10:00am The second technical session will take us around several of the 928’s up on the work bay lifts. Discussions will revolve around the differences between model years and series of the Porsche 928. Steve Bluh of Bluh Moon Automotive will be our guide on this journey through the 928 progression. Please ask Steve any questions you may have as he is an expert 928 mechanic and owner.

11:00am Nick Martinez of Detailer’s Paradise will be conducting our next technical session. He will be demonstrating the correct procedures for doing a full detail on a 928. This will transpire over a three hour period. Please be sure to hear his very important information during the first half hour of his presentation. Afterwards depending on your level of interest, stay for the whole session, or at least stop back every half hour to see the amazing progression.

12:00noon Our final technical event will be with Nick Munholland of Big Bear Dent Repair. He will demonstrate the procedure for removal of dents in one of our 928’s…any volunteers? While Nick is with us this afternoon he is offering a very special rate for dent removal. The first dent is $35-$50.00 there after it becomes more inexpensive. For example: 5 quarter sized dents can be removed for $100.00. Your car may be more or less, so please talk to him personally about your own cars situation. This is truly amazing to watch!

Alan, Betsy and I drove over 600 miles yesterday - Phoenix to Ouray, CO. Other than several construction delays (east of Payson, west of Gallop on I70, between Farmington and Durango and north of Durango on the way to Silverton) we made some pretty good time. No technical problems.

The drive from Durango to Ouray is beautiful has some very twisty sections as we made it over 10,000 ft. across the passes.

We'll see you all Thursday night!

We are leaving Thursday afternoon or very early Friday morning.
I want to take US287 from Amarillo to Denver.
Anybody know this road?
Is it a good route?
My other alternative is I35 North from DFW to Salinas KS and then West to Denver - looks boreing though.
Thanks,
Roger

Roger, the section from Salina to Denver is cruise control country. Watch for Smokey in the medians. Flat topography and open country that could easily be taken at 125 plus, but Mr. Bear has other idesa. Watch for him as you round a corner or over the tops of low rises. Once into Colorado, it becomes a bit more interesting.
