Default Rebuilding the A/C Compressor - Help

This all started because I had one o-ring that was leaking but now I've gotten carried away and I'm in the process of rebuilding the compressor on the '89 GT. I bought the shaft seal and gasket kits to rebuild a 6E171 Denso compressor and I have it apart but I can't get the three phillips screws out to replace the front seal. Are these threadlocked? I used an impact driver with no success. Anyone BTDT? To top it off the big o-rings to fit the front and back covers are the wrong size. Any ideas how to get the screws out. Can I use Yamabond on the old o-rings on the end covers?

Do not try to remove the screws. It is not necessary. Removal of the plate is accomplished by using a special remover. You can make a remover out of a bolt and nut. Find a nut and bolt that are too big to fit through the oval hole in the plate. Grind flats on the nut that allow it to go through the hole and turn 90 degrees and tighten the bolt to remove the plate.

The Orings may work if they are too large. Use R12 mineral oil to lubricate the Orings. Or better yet, use mineral oil and NYLOG assembly lube.
When reassembling put the carbon seal on the shaft and engage the small flats on the shaft first to assure engagement.
