On the central electric panel jumper (short) pins Z4 & Z6 - see if the car starts - this is how to override the alarm disable. You can leave the alarm in place or remove if it creates any other issues...

I'd suggest you try to debug the alarm failure - but first confirm thats the problem.

What Alan said. BTW I think your alarm module is above the glove box. The Z-plug is located in the fuse panel area. It is out of order in the row of colored plugs somewhere near the center. It is labeled as are the individual pins(with very small numbers). Also I beleive the alarm cuts the fuel pump not the starter on your MY. So you might have to check or jumper your starter relay or something else.
Best of luck

Also, make sure you have enough voltage at battery. Sometimes they don't recharge adequately, after a deep discharge, to activate starter.

Default back to the woes :{

I have been busy sorry it took long to get back too many irons in the fire
the Alarm module is on the drivers side and it says HOFCO it is a black box with one plug in one out,I have checked the battery 12.8 volt, made sure my grounds are all good, jumped the starter relay nothing
the contact for the at the truck lock shows ground correct?
this did this one time before,
and this one does not allow the starter to enage

Question is this factory alarm HOFCO or aftermarket it has the date of 84 on the box but I dont find it anywhere listed Almost
Andy thanks for your time

I think its an aftermarket alarm based on the location and name... if you jumped the connections I told you then its unlikely the alarm is at fault unless someone added an additional different operational lock out.

Change relay IV for another regular '53 type relay (horn) or get a standard SPTD bosch type relay at the auto store.. this relay also supports the alarm on an '84.

Does any wiring on the Central Electric panel look clearly aftermarket? if yes where does it go on the panel (panel has pin ID's printed/embossed)?

I still suspect other things...

To verify some different things, have someone turn the key to start position do you hear a relay click on the Central Electric (fuse/relay) panel ? if yes your relay is probably fine (seems you've replaced and jumped it so assume it probably is not the culprit.... if it does not click we need to dig into that further. If it does click continue...

You need to get the car up so you can look at the starter. Test for 12v between the big battery connector and the chassis, have someone turn the key to start - any change? - if it droops to ~0v - you have a battery connection issue on +ve or Gnd leads - most likely at the battery posts or ground strap...

Test the small connection from the starter relay to the solenoid when turned to start position do you see this go to ~12v? if no the starter relay or wiring before or after is at fault... if yes the starter relay & wiring is fine

If you got his far - your starter solenoid is probably toasted unless you hear a click at the solenoid in which case its probably the motor itself... You may want to take it off and clean/lube and maybe test it to see if anything got better - put it back on the car to test it though (just trust me on this one - reinstall it first).

Rebuild / new / used options if it comes to that....

Alan
