odo not working
I was searching through the posts and i read the odometer and trip meter both work off the same gear. Question is my trip meter works but my odo doesn't. could it be a different gear in there that is kaput?
On a lighter note I changed my timing belt and everything else WIAIT and the car fired right up and runs great. Thank you all for all your help.
WICruiser I will be sending you an email so I can return your Tension tool.

Hmmm....that's very strange about the odo and trip counter are both are driven by the same gear set. The odo is driven first and then the trip meter, so it hard to figure a way for the trip to work without the odo.
I've attached some pics of my speedo dissassembled. The small electric motor that drives the odo/trip meters can be seen in the lower lefthand corner of one picture...and the infamous exploding "odo gear" usually resides in the upper right-hand corner of the other pic. You can see the shot steel shaft where it normally sits.
Looks like you might have to remove the unit to find out for sure any speedo repair shop can figure it out...or you can simply replace the speedo unit with another one...your choice.

Burning Brakes
Glad to hear that the TP job went well and she is running.
Not sure what to say about the odometer problem. Mine doesn't work and I have the gear I anticipate is required based on the information I received from this great group. It is possible that you have a different gear problem, but regardless it sounds like you need to take a look see what is going on in there.

Trip75 -
I'll betcha the problem will be discovered when you take a look at the gears.
Removing the pod is not that big a deal. Nichol's write up is pretty good at http://www.nichols.nu/tip172.htm. I have the same model you do, so if you decide to pull da pod, I can help you through it.
Peace,
Tim
