Default Dyno Day in Detroit - This Saturday - $40 a car! - POSTPONED!

See below for details on postponment.

Munk's Motors is sponsoring a Dyno Day at Nelson's Performance in Waterford, MI this Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM. They only have 6 cars signed up so far, so I'm jumping in to see what the GT will do. I plan on being there at 10AM to dyno the GT. If you are interested in dynoing your car, call Carrie at Munk's at 248-681-8081 to get on the list.

FYI.. this is primarily a baselise dyno session, not a tuning session. I think it's 3 runs and your off.

DR... I know we talked about getting the SharkTuner up here for a Dyno tuning session, but this is too cheap of an opportunity to pass up just to see what she puts down with the minor tuning we've done.

Gonna be a fun weekend.

Andrew,

Cool!! Just remember to watch your A/F ratio as we discussed and if need be you can add a little more or less fuel pressure to get it in the right range until final tuning.

Wish I could be there!!

Brian,

When Andrew is fully tuned I feel comfortable that he should be in the 450-470 range (he is running a crossover with no cats but has stock rear muffler). We only had about 1 hour's worth of road tuning time with him before he had to leave for home so my goal was to try to make everything safe for the trip. Judging from the amount of fueling added to my settings to get him close he should have more power than mine has now when all tuned up.

When I started my intital tuning sessions I started at around 435ish and worked my way up over a few hours of dyno tuning (which is faster and more efficent than road tuning), so if he is in that range now I will be happy for the moment. I am going to the dyno next week and will have the exact same exhaust mods installed that Andrew has installed on his GT to create a base tune for him and others that have the same exhaust setup. The plan is to then optimize that tune on his 928 on a dyno using my SharkTuner in a few weeks. Hopefully by then we will have the EZK version of the ST and we can really get him tweaked out. Then and only then will we really know where he is at.

Just spoke to Carrie. The dyno operator had a death in the family, so no dyno this weekend! . No re-schedule date as of yet, but Carrie said she's going to shoot for July 8th. I'll let you knw when I hear back from her.

DR, do you have a rollout plan for what mod combos you'll be supporting with pre-programmed chips yet?

Say, for example, someone (guess who? ) has your modular X (running with cats) plus your RMB (if that matters). Where does that combo fit into the grand scheme of things? And do you have any idea of how much you might be leaving on the table if you use the preprogrammed chips without doing additional tuning? Should I (oops, I mean the hypthetical person with the above mods) expect to do ST-based tuning (on dyno or road)? Do you even know yet how much variation there is from car to car?

Sorry if I'm pulling this off topic, Andrew. (Although there is a strong SC tie-in on this thread, isn't there?)

Is the dyno located near where the Hell event will be? Mayby combine the two if you think there'd be time and it wouldn't be too hectic?

Guys- Since I've already committed to taking the wife out for dinner that night (sunk cost to doing the dyno) , why don't you guys come over to my place on Saturday morning around 10am and we'll go out for a few joy rides! PM me if you need my address, or call me at seven three four - eight three seven - seven nine zero eight for directions.

Hi Andrew,

Please give the folks at Nelson's our condolences.

Ed,

>DR, do you have a rollout plan for what mod combos you'll be supporting with >pre-programmed chips yet?
>Say, for example, someone (guess who? ) has your modular X (running with >cats) plus your RAM (if that matters).
>Where does that combo fit into the grand scheme of things?

We plan to do base chip sets for all configurations using our products. We will do configurations with other products as we have the opportunity.

For example I spent the morning installing a replica of Andrew's exhaust setup on my GT in preparation for doing some dyno tuning next week for his setup. This should get him close, then he can use our SharkTuner to optimize his setup on his GT even more.

>And do you have any idea of how much you might be leaving on the table if >you use the preprogrammed chips without doing additional tuning?

This is all new and still fluid at the moment, but I would guess maybe 20hp? However we will be providing a SharkTuner "system" for loan to everyone that purchases our SC kits so they can optimize their mapping if they so chose... and, yes this is included in the Kit price. We will also continually be sending out new and improved chip sets as we optimize the tuning for all variations over time (also included in price).

> Should I (oops, I mean the hypthetical person with the above mods) expect >to do ST-based tuning (on dyno or road)? Do you even know yet how much >variation there is from car to car?

You can tune on the road or dyno, but the dyno will be quicker and safer! Custom mapping (stock or aftermarket EMS) is the only way to get the absolute most out of a stock 928, same goes for a modified 928.

I'll call the guy in a week or so and see what we can do. Maybe a Saturday morning session or a Sunday morning session.

So, How 'bout it fellas? Anyone coming over?

(The below pic could be interpreted as being in poor taste, but I thought it appropriate given the circumstances. I have already extended my condolences to the Dyno operator.)

I've got a painting project I've really gotta finish, but I could spare a couple of hours to swing by and check the Beast out tomorrow. 10AM it is.

I'll try, but his other daughter--also pregnant--is coming home for a visit tomorrow. If one of us is not there to greet her, it's a problem. If we both are not there, it will trigger an aggravated episode of PRS (yeah, Porsche Resentment Syndrome) amongst the womenfolk. But, I'll try. We are men, right?!
