Need to fill the engine with oil tomorrow...and the tranny......and went out to find some today.....Decided i wanted Mobil 1, 5-40 synthetic and a Dex 111 synthetic ATF.....the only engine oil in 5-40 i could find is Mobil, but its labled Delvak 1 synthetic....different bottle, etc from the regular Mobil 1.....any experience with this stuff....as for AFT, i couldnt find any Mobil so i'm looking for suggestions there....thanks

John,
Delvac 1 5-40 is what Doug Hillary has been testing and recommends, so you should be fine. Where did you find it? Down on the Coast, here I had to go to heavy truck wholesaler. Definitely not Can Tire or Lordco. I'll be putting it in at the next change.

Doug Hillary sent me a private message recommending the Delvak syn for the engine and as well he recommends Castrol Transmax z synthetic ATF for the tranny. I found 3 four liter jugs of it at Lordco in Vernon....they said they just got it in

Well, I hope they start to carry it regularly. I'll have to check their warehouse next time I go by.

I have been running Delvac 5w40 for several years now, no issues. Also use it in her Miata. Currently have original German ATF (as used by MB) in it, a little slow to take up reverse, but otherwise no issues - just age I think, not uncommon. Next change will go to the Transmax Z (readily available here).

Holy Resurrectus, Brad!! (No need to dig up a five-year-old thread to ask a question).

I don't know if that particular Amsoil is suitable for gasoline engines (most diesel-rated oils are OK), but the price is a bit dear--- It's $9.70/qt on the website, which is about $8 Canadian

As for 5w-40, there are a lot of folks here that think 5w-anything is too thin, particularly for summer temperatures. I don't know, myself.

i have 5w 40 and i was stuck in traffic (first time) couple days ago and my low oil warning light was blinking and i had to put in neutral for more pressure, i will try 15w 40 next oil change as recommended here.

I have been using Amsoil 20w-50 but bought a case of Valvoline VR1 20w-50 just yesterday with an oil change planned ASAP.

Valvoline VR-1 Conventional 15w-50 or Brad Penn 15w-50 for my cars.

Less than $5 a quart too.

The track car will get Redline or AMSOil

Ya i know it is expensive but when i asked on the VR thread if anyone would get me some, there was no reply. U.S. only.
I could not seem to find a good link to order the amsoil as it was U.S. shipping only.

so now that the deed is done, do you guys think that this stuff is the high ZDDP oil? or do i take it back?

I would really like the best that I can get ~
I have checked all the outlets in town and there is no perf oil.

bwmac try NAPA. The one in Ontario that I work in carries it. It is ordered thru Keystone. We have a few customers that come in special for it all the time.

Anyone know about or is using Shell Rotella T6 Full Synthetic Diesel Oil for the 928?

Thought I would ask. I use it in my motorcycles. It is supposed to be very good oil.
