Questions on an 80 Euro

Questions on an 80 Euro
I have an 80 US (body in trouble). I am looking at an 80 euro s from a friend of a friend of a friend. Price is right and everything works.
Questions:
(1) Any problems smogging a Euro in California?
(2) Any big problems with the K-Jet on a 928? I am familiar with CIS from my 924 but I imagine the 928 system is a bit different.
(3) What is the gas mileage difference between the K-jet and L-jet cars?
(4) Kind of an abstract question here, but If I wanted to make one super car out of these cars, and the body is good on the Euro, what might one switch between them?
I do my own work.

>> K-Jet systems are all pretty similar, exact same theory of operation, the fuel distributor just has more lines coming out of it.

>> CIS are the most fuel thirsty, L-Jet is a little better, LH provides the best fuel economey.

>> Depending upon the Euro (of this vintage, there are Euros and Euro S types), the Euro S drivetrain provides more HP, the non-S is similar to the L-Jet US in HP output. The Euro has better headlamps with tilt adjustment. Other than that, the cars are pretty much the same.

Do some searching here and on the email lists for CIS issues.
They can deliver some signifcant heartburn if the components have been sitting for a while. But that should be common to the CIS systems you are already familiar with.
The EuroS does provide additional power, in my opinion its cammy with top end response but a little soft on the bottom. Some find the Euro cars to be a little scrappier, some are purported to have less sound deading. I know mine is certainly a little more spartan- no sunroof, no hatch release, no cruise, etc.
You might want to weight the option of forced induction on the US plant as one alternative, its a real balance of cost-benefit given the body issues you describe.
