It could have been worse...looks like lots of open space for landing. Maybe you ought to think about re-writing your will to make sure your shark is well looked after if say anything were to happen in the future....not that I am suggesting anything. Kidding aside, glad you are okay!

Glad it worked out in the end... But hey.. Hows the shark after all this?

This is the second time I've had an engine out... first time was much luckier... At night from Chicago to Minneapolis in the winter, at 8,500 feet I had a valve break which went into the piston which broke and in about 15 seconds pretty much destroyed the rest of the engine in a Mooney 231 (Turbocharged)... we glided to a normal landing at Oshkosh airport!

When is it time to quit? I was flying around my local area one day, an area that I knew very well, and found myself lost. Got home OK and told the guy at the airport that sells aircraft to put it on the market. I quit, then and there. 6 months later I had a 5 way by-pass, something I fear I may not have needed if I had continued to fly. I loved it, had 3 emergencies, one engine out, one boloxed landing and tons of fun. 3,000 hours and a ATP. The Shark is safer!

Beautiful landing! I'd be glad it was spring and that the "crop" wasn't big enough to trip you up.
Ouch!

Good job. Nothing like a little emergency to get ones pipes cleaned out with adrenaline. I've had 4 engine failures myself...but then again , they were all in multi-engine aircraft.

Its amazing that planes are still running 1030's engine technology... Avionics, interior comfort and airframes are progressing, imagine us having our 928's and running engines from the 1930's... yes the Bonanza has 285 HP, but that is with 520 cubic inches running 75% power!
