Hi all,

My 85 ocassionaly makes a noise - like a clicking or almost static when the AC is on. Doesn't happen all the time. Almost sounds like there's a critter in there!! I'm wouldn't be too concerned, but another vehicle I have (another story!!) had an AC failure that resulted in the car filling with smoke - which I am still hearing abour from you know who!!

Any ideas?

Hi it could be a leaf stuck in the blower motor remove the plastic cover under the hood and see if on the right side of the well there are a bunch of leaves or other debris there on the passenger side, if so try to vacuum them out, if you rinse them out there is a hole in the firewall covered by a rubber flap this will let all of the other stuff come out but you might have to reach down and help it, Warning before spraying any water into the blower motor well you should pull back the carpet on the passenger floor and expose the fuse panel just above the panel is a plastic grate this is the bottom of the blower assembly there is a good possibility that it will leak water onto the fuse panel/floor , by spraying water into the blower well to rinse things out , you can put a towel there as a pre caution, and obsrve if this area is leaking, if so then you may have to remove the bottom to reseal the outer edge to prevent further leaks.............. can of worms , but you asked

It could also be one of the HVAC vacuume actuators. I had a similiar noise on my 89 GT that was one of the vacuume actuators. There are several good write-ups on the change out, do a search.
