Where's a good place to stash the HID ballast/ignitor for fog light install
Hi,
There doesn't seem to be any space at the fog/driving light assembly
on an S4 to hide the ballast/ignitor.
Those guys and gals who've got HID installed, where'd you put the
ignitor box?
Hate to add complexity to the 928 electronics but HID is such a
great light source.

Good question. I did the HIDs on the main flip-up headlights and there's a great place in the front fender well on the fender brace that works well. But for teh fog/driving lights... i would think the best place would be in front of the AC condensor (radiator), but not sure if there are good locations to strap the balast to.

I've only done the main headlight HID installation, but I was expecting to (if I ever did the fog or high beam HID kit) continue to attach more ballasts (and maybe ignitors) to the metal ear containing the headlight down stop.
Photo stolen from Figure 13 of the HID installation writeup I did a little more than half a year ago (see the thread "H4 HID Conversion Kit Installed; Writeup Now Available"). I don't really remember whether there's room for another ballast under (or maybe next to?) that one.

Good place Ed. (with fender liner replaced). I had mine where my washer-reservior bottle for the headlights was, the heat of the ballasts cooked the paint right off the car where they mounted!!
They do get hot as hell...

Yes I'd do what Ed did or very similar - you could also attach low on the inside fender wall - but then you have to drill to mount.
I'd go with Ed's strap type mount.
Whatever - you are best mounting it inside the fender well because then your wiring is best protected though the existing grommets and this area is fairly well protected anyway.
I'm contemplating HID's in the fogs and will do excatly like Ed.
