Default Motor Mounts

'88 S4 idles and runs smoothly but shop says mounts are collapsed. I have driven and raced my 944 with collapsed mounts for about five years with no ill affects. How critical is it on the S4?

Ride in a 928 with good ones and you will feel the difference. I did.

Before replacing the mounts, the whole car would rock when the engine was revved. Now, the engine rocks, and the car remains stable. That translates to a whole lot less NVH, and a much more pleasant driving experience.

Mine are out and that is the 1st things on the repair list for me. It was pointed out to me at the DFW gathering a couple of weeks before and you can really see the difference when they are in good shape.
