Crap! I knew I forgot something...

It's a loose agenda.

Friday
Show up. Some are staying at the cottage, some are at the hotel. We haven't decided where the gathering will be, but if there is anyone staying at the Hotel on Friday, it'll probably be there.

Saturday
10:00 am - Show up at the cottage. You could show up earlier if you wanted and help get things ready. Meet and greet until lunch.

Lunch starts around 11:30 until food is gone.

1:00 boat ride/swimming for the kids

2:30pm-3:00pm - Fun drive. This will put you in Chelsea, MI around 4pm which is just off of I-94 for those going straight home.

4:00-4:30 back at the cottage for dinking and other fun activities.

Sunday
Get the Hell out of there!

Remember, be safe!

Hmm - need to relook at our agenda - had us showing up in Hell around 3PM. Time zone is screwing things up.

Still debating if we will drive straight to Hell or stay over somewhere Friday night. For us this is a 4 day road trip with one hell of a party in the middle.

Then again - all bets are off if my motor locks up or does something really stupid.

H-P, Come as early as possible, at 65+years I may not live lone enough for later. I can bring my trusty Kodak retina 111a or NIKON SP for analog buffs. Looking forward to seeing you and all the visitors to Michigan. BigMac

FYI, if anyone plans on purchasing souvenirs from Screams (the ice cream and souvenir store in hell) stop at the cottage first. John the owner gave me a bunch of his business cards with a stamp on the back that will be good for 15% off any merchandise in the store. They have 30 or so shirts with different Hell verbiage, the infamous 666 shirts, and all kinds of Halloween stuff (small Halloween version of Bonner's in Frankenmuth).

Here is the link if you want to check out the stuff : http://www.hell2u.com/
Screams is a must stop for anyone bringing children.

Hope to see you there.

Here is our current game plan in case anyone gives a ****.

Leave Green Bay around 12:00 Noon CST
Stop / stay over in either Mackinaw City or Travers City.
Mackinay = 256 miles or 6 hours per map quest
Travers City = 357 miles or 8 hours per map quest (seams long based on the distance)

Saturday morning - leave for hell. Looks to be about 250ish miles from either location or about 4 hours based on mapquest. After a night out, early departure will depend on the women wanting to drive or not.

Driving straight over is 527 miles or about 10 hours per mapquest.

Any thoughts, suggestions? Roads to avoid? etc.. This is 100% new territory for both of us.

Distance-wise Traverse City is closer, but there aren't any freeways to get you to Hell from there. You'd have a lot of stop and go. Yuk!

I think Mackinac would be the best place to overnight if you're not going all the way through, but it's a good 4+ hours from there to Hell, so plan accordingly.

There aren't too many cops in the UP, and they don't hassle you too often as long as you're not more than 15+ over the speed limit. I believe most of the highways are 65, so keep it under 80; 75 will be safe.

On the interstate, you can safely go 80, but watch out for anything above that. Safe travels!

Yep - what he said. Mackinaw City is right on I-75, Traverse City involves a bunch of more scenic but slower roads. Other possibilities are ******* or Grayling. ******* is about 3 1/2 hours from Hell, Grayling about 3 hours. They'd put you closer to Hell, but there isn't much to see/do compared to Mackinaw City.

Plan on getting stuck behind, and passing large groups of, motor homes while crossing the Upper Peninsula. My wife and I made a trip across the U.P. back in '97 and I recall that RVs tend to group together, so passing them can be a problem unless traffic is light in the opposite direction. It's mostly two-lane roads.

Not 100% sure yet - one thing I do know, whatever went south at 2AM this morning - is not going to be fixed by noon tomorrow.

Lets just say I started it about 5 times last night - after I took it for a test drive. Final time I fired it up - oil pressure was at zero - nadda, zip, zilch. It is not the sening unit - no oil is making it to the pump & the pump is spinning (belt covers are still off). So, something between the sump and the pump is broken, loose, whatever. Dropping the pan looks to be in my future. So either I stay home all weekend and fix it or take a different car and hang with you guys.

What a b-day present.

Hey Hacker, Andrew said the criteria was to show up with a 928.

You will be showing up with me, and I have a 928. Possibly a loop hole but hey, you'll get a shirt. If all 4 of us need to pile into my 928 and do a smokey cheerio in the parking lot to qualify, I'm good with that.
