Interesting way to look at it... "winning" when in fact you bid LAST to pay more than anyone else in an open public market is willing to pay I guess I just "won" lunch , then reached in my pocket pulled out my wallet and paid for it ! Nice looking wheels though I just think the terminology is interesting. Much like the stock market ...Profit taking and Correction just sounds so much better than the market is DOWN 150 points !
well, the BIN was $1600, i made a best offer $1400 and they took it. in looking for a nice size wheel I wanted to stay in the narrower range for the rears to avoid issues with fender rolling, flares etc. I haven't come across a 19x9.5 yet, esp with a decent offset for the front matching wheel, used so I jumped on it, plus they are local, so I can pick the wheels up tomorrow, and not wait a week, and pay $150, to get them shipped.
I did not mean it was not a good deal I just see some humor in how people view auctions... Barrett-Jackson being a prime example of competitive bidding and "winning" aided by the exposure of Television and buying 15 minutes of fame ! It is great that you are local so you can be sure they are round.
ART, I had the same kind of thing going on last week. Found 18" Rivas on the socal classifieds, got em' for 1350.00 with new pole positions and the guy wound up living only an hour away! Exceptional human being I might add.
Well done Art! Those are the exact same wheels I just put on my GT. They will look great on your car. Interesting that the ebay add said just came off a 997. I may be wrong, but I think that size (rears anyway) at 9.5 x 19 may only come on the new 987 Caymans.
Anyway, congratulations on "winning" the wheels. They should look something like this installed on the rear. BTW, front wheel bearing caps will have to be altered to allow the wheel center caps to fit.
The soap opera continues. I was told by Brandywine Porsche that the rears are 19x9.5, so I ordered 265/35s for them, i never checked the wheels real close when i picked them up as my 1 year old was in the truck screaming ... tires come, i pull the rims out .. 19x11 67mm offset for the rears ... motherf-----r ... lesson learned, ALWAYS inspect what you pay for.
so ..... rear tires now need to get shipped back to Tirerack, ordered the right ones, and now i got to see what rear fender mods i need to do to make sure these fit. AND I passed up a local set of the perfect tires for $400 with hardly any wear ......
at least my local wrench was excited about fitting a s/c to my shark later this year, i was hoping he wasnt going to say "i'm not touchin that job"
