Question Ignition pulse interupts fuel pump relay???

Fuel pump closes normally with key in the on position. However, when the engine is cranking or running, the fuel pump relay buzzes, opening and closing with every plug firing, and is proportional to engine speed. I have eliminated the fuel injection system as a possible short. The only reief from this symptom comes by disconnecting the distributer pick-up, ignition brain, (dissabling the spark) or wiring the relay via another keyed power supply (cigarette lighter).

I recently had the dash pod and instruments out and replaced the key switch while I was there. I was also very careful with the wires upon reinstallation. I there any particular ground point I could have missed in the insrtument cluster or pod. How can this "pulse" interupt the FP relay, but not when powered from elsewhere?
