Default Timing Belt

Hello All. I am checking the tension on my timing belt. 86.5 US Model. The belt appears to be riding to the back of the cam sproket. So far to the back that I cannot see the notch.Does not appear to be rubbing.Would a loose condition cause this, or do I have other problems? The PO had the belt replaced about a tear ago and retentioned after 1K MILES. Thanks, Kip.

Recently there have been posts about the belt riding forward and back on the gears and theories on why. A search should turn up some good ideas. Sounds a bit dangerous to me. I'd find out what the problem is.
