Paint Reclamation
Yesterday our local club (Niagara) held a session on the proper care and preservation of paint. My car, having spent 10 years in south Florida, has the worst oxidized finish I have ever seen. The experts first thought that the paint underneath the clear coat was damaged, but decided to give it a try anyway.
Using an array of 3M products and a professional buffer, a real pro was able to reclaim the shine on the top of one of the fenders. It took about 45 minutes but the result was astounding.
The message is, never give up on your paint. People who know what they are doing can sometimes work miracles.

Nice to hear!! The good news is our paint is rock hard & lasts a long time...however the clear coated cars have to deal with a fairly soft clear coat that tends to peel over time....only a very well maintained clear coated 928 will still look excellent today....the base color only colors (white-red-dunkelblau) are much easier to restore since there is no clear coat in the way! Even a very rough base color 928 can be wet-sanded or high speed compounded to return the finish to look very good!
