What's involved in replacing the rear wheel studs?

Generally, removing the half shaft followed by the hub carrier assembly ( after disassembly of the emergency brake).
The hub is then hydraulically pressed out of the carrier .... which destroys the bearing. Press out the studs, and as the WSM says, reassembly is the reverse : A new bearing must be pressed in and the rear realigned ..... all in all, a PITA.

Bummer. PO f'ed up a couple of wheel studs drilling lug nuts off. I left well enough alone until today, when I made one of them even worse (running a steel lug onto a galled stud).

I've ordered a die from Carl at 928motorsport to clean up the stud; I'll leave the stud replacement until something else on the rear end needs attention.
