the ad said the max does 0-60 in 6.8. seems to me the 82 5spd. has the same time according to the factory. at 6.8 wouldn't the nissan 1/4 at around 15.7 secs? the two cars should be about equal. to me that says something about the 25yr. old 928! I say run 'em

At the 318 hp and only slightly more weight the S-4 should prevail in a true christmas tree drag contest. Little joy in beating a family sedan and not by all that much ...

Kevin,
Take one of these cars for a spin and you'll see how surprisingly quick they are. If your 928 is a near stock US spec 16V, I wouldn’t even bother running against one.

In my experience, Japanese cars run out of steam somewhere in the 100-120 range. That includes WRXs and Evos. If the race goes enough over 100, a 928 will win. The Gumball 3000 article has been posted before where several modded STIs could not pass a basicly stock S4. They could barely keep up without drafting off the 928.

Perhaps, but thre is almost 100hp difference between a '82 928 and an S4. The Maxima has about 50hp more than an '82 928 and to make this worst, it could have a manual trans (6-speed).

The S4s are low 14 sec cars and a race between a Maxima and an S4 would all come down to the driver.. at lest untill the S4 hits 100, then the Maxima would slowly fall back.

raced many impressive cars (and some not so impressive) The Max is a nice ride though to be sure.

Well in that case the early 16V 928 are even less "brisker"! You would pull away from the Maxima at the same as it would from an '82 16V auto 928.
I would bet that the manual Maximas are same to an early 32V auto 928.

i beat the snot out of a 05 maxima with my Euro S 310. But i only crawled away with my bmw 535i euro with 250hp. Get and x-pipe, headers, and shave some weight to get you at 3000 lbs and you should spank him prety good
