I met a guy who was a 928er and in '95 heard that there would be no more 928s so he ordered a '95 GTS 5 speed and still owns it. Totally cool, about $82K new, has 22K miles now. His name was Tony from NH, met at the Boston Shark party at Larz Anderson last summer.
We have a local customer that bought his 83' 5-speed new and has a total of 40k miles on it now. It's like new...
The GTS we just picked up is a 95' 5-speed, 27k miles...bought it from the original owner. He had a 93' Ferrari 512 BB in the garage with 8k miles, bought it new also.
He could tell ya, but then he'd haf'ta kill ya!
Oh yeah.. and since we are all trying to keep up with the values of these cars... what'd ya pay for it too there Dave??? Come on, details man, details, fess up!?? ... just kiddin with ya..
Course everyone would love to see some pics of it. What are there..... maybe 15-20 '95 five speeds here???
Not only did I buy my '93 GTS new, I met the guy who factory ordered it and then got cold feet at delivery time (in Atlanta). He attended the 2000 928 OCIC and kept walking around and looking at my Amazon Green GTS, and finally came to talk to me. I had the window sticker on display and he recalled making all the choices.
His loss, my gain!
I've been the second owner of two 928s, my '84 (my first 928 purchase in '87) and my '83 (the original purchaser passed it on to his daughter). My '87 had 4 previous owners in 63,000 miles.
Happy to hear of these original owners...must be many others. Almost 30 years and over 200,000 miles in three 928 cars, all purchased new. Current 88 has 123,000 and in 18 years only once left me stranded with a bad fuel pump. I tried to purchase one of the last units in 95 but the dealer wanted a premium and I passed.
