Yeah check out that website (speedhut.com) they are available in 160, 170 or 180. And in many colors. Prob is the tach is for the manuals as it doesn't have the PRND32 indicator. So us a/t folk don't have an option

I think you can just cut EL material and not have any problems as long as you seal the cut edge against moisture. You might want to ask them if you can cut out the PRND32 marks with a razor blade. It should work.

I'm thinking about the black faced versions, but I'm worried about the non-lit needles.

On an auto the RPM markings are a little farther to the left as well so you cant just cut out the PRND32 markings.

Yeah I like the dark face, with Red. Like the stock, aircraft/space craft night vision look..but yeah worry about the needles also. As for the auto indicators, yeah could cut them out, but the tach wouldn't macth up right, you know what I mean (Like Whitefox said?

Call them. I'm pretty sure they have the automatic option. There are more auto 928's than manual 928's and they took the time to make three different speedo versions. It's worth checking into.

By the way. To the folks who asked for pictures of the guages operating and installed in the dash. I am not ignoring you. I am replacing the odometer gear while I have the cluster out and it hasn't arrived yet. It is scheduled to be here today so I should be able to post those pics soon. Thanks

I just recived my guage faces from speedhut and noticed that the warning lights that are on ends of the gas , oil , volt , and temp, (that the needels point at) are coverd up by black paint on the speedhut faces and the light won't pass through! When you look at the back of them they did leave notches for the light to get through the face but painted the notch with black that blocks it up totally! you can't just scratch it off since the paint is sandwiched between the plastic layers.
Did any one else have this problem? or did they just switch to non-translucent paint for me?

I just realized that I never posted the finished pic. I will try to get it in a few days.

I installed the speedhut trim rings and they looked pretty good, for awhile. The problem is that mine was a hair wider than the opening it was made to fit into and the rings are flat but the gauge faces are curved. This caused the gauge rings to want to spring back to its original flat shape which means it is always straining aginst the adhesive used to attach it. You could dremel a little off of each end to help solve this problem. The trim is supplied with double sided tape. It sucks, I don't reccomend it. I tried using crazy glue but it failed after a couple of months and the trim ring just fell to the bottom of the guage cluster housing. I ended up taking everything apart again and removing the trim.

I have the entire pod out right now because I was re-soldering the circuit board for the speedometer. I already tested it and it works great now. I decided to take the center console out while I was at it so that I could trouble shoot the HVAC system. I'm waiting on parts now.

The red light will illuminate the area in question. It will make the area around the black "paint" glow with a red halo.

Ok. Heres a pic of the white face gauges. They are actually turned on in this pic but the flash washed it out. This is the way they look when they are not glowing. I am uploading a video to youtube and will post that here shortly. That way you can see them in action.

Fabio,

Thanks a lot for these posts- I'm now sold on this approach, and will start the project asap. Be fun to know what's going on on my dash at night...
