Sorry pal...that hood has been driving me nuts too...for as long as I can remember. I am an "engine guy"...fixing and upgrading motors is what i do best. BUT...when it comes to body panel installation and alignment, I must confess...I have a long way to go to reach the same level of proficiency...Anyhoo, you get the "jist" of what I have been focussing my attention on here lately...
PS..I still have to have that "thing" laying below the Strut Bar (just to the passenger side of center, on the pic I attached)..."connected" to the strut bar, by a "circular clamp" which I have, that will mak the engine bay, "complete". Not too bad for a "Daily Driver" with around 120K on the ticker....I think. Reminds me 'greatly" of RDS928s early 86 shark, which is another 'beautiful" example of how these "early 32V" engines can and 'should" look....

I'll tell you what..."you go to restoring one of these cars...theres "always" somethiing left to do, I just replaced the remote Hood Release Cable", and Backing Plate for the release handle yesterday.. I can "think" of at least 3 othe things I'd "like" to get done, before the new owner take posession of the vehicle...We'll see what the time constraints will allow. All in all, mine (HIS)...is as nice an example of a very well maintained, "daily driver" 86.5...as I've seen in THIS neck of the woods. Not to say there couldn't be "improvements made or added, but...its ALL there, and EVERY THING works...That alone, speaks volumes. Plus, I have "learned" so much about working on cars, in the 2+ years I have owned and loved this car...I can't help but think, that this car has really helped prepare me for troubleshooting and repairing "anything" out there I may end up with next... :)
