Kip,
Looks like a great deal. I hope the car is all you have been anticipating since you found it. I bought mine in Cincinnati Oh about the same time Mike bought his in Colorado. I also drove through some snow back to NC. My son and I drove up and right back ... 20hrs. Mike I thought my drive was bad but Colorado to Ga, man you rock The radio was not working on mine so I drove for quite a few hours listening to every sound with something like sheer panic. It turned out ok but i will definitely have a PPI next time. I bought it on ebay and wasn't too disappointed with the sellers description. He failed to mention the leaking gas tank, bad window switches, sun roof malfunction and other stuff like that. I have heard worse stories...

Kip, can't wait for pic's

When I bought mine my father met me in Chicago from Rochester, NY, and I drove it the rest of the way to Boise, ID. We arranged insurance months beforehand with my agent and also the temp tags with the IDaho DMV. Of course he stuck the tag on the back window behind the spoiler so you couldn't see it anyway.

He got pulled before he left NY - since everything was legit (though obscured) they let him go. I cruised from Chicago, 120mph at times through Wyoming, and never even got a second look. I was slowing down to pass semi's so I didn't spook anyone. Got hit with radar once in Utah, but the cop pulled out and PASSED ME to pull over the guy in front! Burned through a lot of Karma that time.

The '87S4 5 speed will get 22mpg+ at 90mph!

Enjoy your trip!

Hello All, There are some great driving home stories. Due to time contraints I will have to take the most direct route home. I may be able to go thru the White Mountains of AZ. I am trying to get insurance now and the prices seem quite high. The collector car ins companies are reasonable but require pictures and forms. I just need ins to get home with, and then can fill the forms ect. Any suggestions on insurance? Thanks, Kip.

Finding a car far away is half the fun. Because you get to take it on that memorable trip to its new home. I've done it twice - once from the Washington DC area, and once from Southern California. Both trips will never be forgotten.

Congratulations, kipdo!

When I drove my 84' home to NV from FL I just used my current insurance info. I asked my insurance agent about getting a temp card before I left and they said new purchases were covered on by policy for 30 days. You might give your agent a call and see if this is the case with your policy.

Kip-check with your current insurance carrier, you usually have like 10 days after the purchase of a car to have your current insurance cover it. That should allow you to get it home and then you can shop around. Jim

Weather in Denver kind of sucky today but supposed to be nice for the next few days.

Thanks for the info. I contacted my ins co today and added to my policy. I will cancell in the next 30 days when I get collector ins. Time is running down. I have to by ready by end of tomorrow. I fly out at 6:25 am on Thursday.
Jim I am checking the weather for the Denver area this evening. I hope to have good weather for the drive home. I dont think the Wife or the Boss would understand waiting for good weather to drive. Thanks. Kip
