How do i adjust the slack on my kick down cable?
do i adjust the bolt on the l shaped thingy on the tranny or something else?
Ive isolated this problem to FOR SURE the slack in the kick down. I even did a super quick jimmy rig to take some slack out, and it does now kinda down shift. It feels like its in one of those in between things so it needs to be adjusted more. I did look at that L bracket bolt and stuff and i am kinda unsure how i make that work.
I also saw somewhere about adjust a screw on the WOT switch or something? I think that may be for later model tho

Adjust all three - in the following order ( this is for a S4, so I assume the principle is idem for a 16v).
With the gas pedal to the floor such that the kickdown switch clicks on, adjust its cable to fully retract the lever ( under the intake spider). Adjust as necessary to assure the throttle body valve is wide open ( this is a separate cable on the S4 - maybe not there on an auto 16v ).
Then, adjust the transmission control cables length such that the ball cup just slides on the ball stud at closed throttle ... neither slack nor tightness desired.
Done correctly, WOT shifts should occur at redline.

there isn't a regular adjustment on my cable. The throttle cable has a threaded inner part to adjust, but the kickdown part does not. I do not see one on the tranny end either. i adjusted the throttle part etc... Just can't figure out how to do the kick down part?
btw they are infact seperate cables

I have a 1986.5 928S Automatic. Recently, the second gear shifts at about 2600 RPM, third the same, and fourth shifts at close to 3000RPM. This feels uncomfortable and seems to be stressing the car. I have checked the fluid and it is at spec. Cables are not crimped. Car is fine otherwise. Can someone instruct me in a fix for this problem? Thanks in advance
P.S. If I ease up on the throttle, the car shifts into each gear below 2000RPM which feels better and has no stress on the car.

AT. Perhaps your trans cable is adjusted to tight. Have you taken it off of the throttle linkage to check the adjustment? I have the opposite problem. My car shifts too early in my opinion. with light throttle I am in fourth gear by the time I'm doing 30 mph. I dont know if tightening the cable would help this or not.
