Default Leather Dash Info

All the covers are sitting on the doorstep waiting for my sure fire postman to pick them up.

They're going USPS priority mail with insurance, so they should get to the east and Midwest by Saturday and the west coast on Monday.
Since they're insured, someone will have to sign for it so Saturday delivery may work well for most of you.

I want to thank everyone for their patience and support in this project.

Due to the support of Rennlist members I've made contacts with 928 suppliers, owners, and enthusiasts around the country and even around the world, all interested in perpetuating the driving experience of the Porsche 928---some for profit and others for the sheer pleasure of owning and driving a truly great automobile.

With that, and since I was permanently laid off I've decided to take this opportunity to do the next logical thing, combine enjoyable work and maybe eke out something of a living from it. I will offer the leather covers along with the vinyl covers, hood liners and some other items and ideas I have on a regular basis.

BTW
I have an in with one of the airlines and can fly around the country pretty cheap.
For anyone interested, I'll come to your place, remove your dash, install the cover and reinstall the dash for a mere $600, steak dinner, and a place to sleep for a night or two.

That doesn't include the leather or vinyl cover.

I'm not in a position to become a Rennlist sponsor right now and I'm blatantly hawking my products and services in this post so I'm hoping the info on the leather group purchase will save it from being deleted.

There will be a slight increase in price for the leather stuff since I'm now going to try and make some money on it but the vinyl items and hood liners will probably drop in price since I found a supplier with better prices. I found a local shop that is interested in doing complete vinyl or leather interior items and accessories and we're in the process of obtaining patterns for much of it.

I'll be working with Dan the Pod Guy to stock his pods. In turn he will stock my dashes. (Rob the Dash Guy?) He's on the west coast and I'm in the Midwest so that should work out well. When I get my web site done I'll have Dan's pods and Paul's pod covers available or have links to them along with my leather and vinyl covers, hood liners, decals, nuts and bolts and some other stuff.

In addition I’ll have some items for the 944 including a vinyl and leather dash options.

Thanks again to everyone for their support and enjoy your new leather. And remember installation requires time, patience and attention to detail. Measure and re-measure and check the fit before you cut. If you have any questions, let me know. If you have reservations about installing it, take it to a professional. Clean and treat it regularly

Rob,
I think it's great that it is turning into a business where you can make a living. I am not ready yet but you will be the first call when i am. I have other stuff that is higher on the priority list. I hope you are making everyones list. Nothing IMHO looks better than a leather dash

Thanks very much. Yes, leather makes for a great interior.

BTW
I just heard from Paul. He received the thread samples and last of the leather for the pods so it looks like everything is on track.

Rob:

As I hope you know, I plan to render your services in the months ahead. Leather is the way to go, so once I save up some coin, I will try to get you to Chicago by air, our house by shark, and into a great Bed and Broad, er, Breakfast down the way.

You'll bring tools and the leather with you, no?

Best of luck with your pursuits.

Peace,
Tim

Yes I'll bring my tools and materials.

Rob:

From the looks of your avatar, you've got the broad part worked out! I'll let you know when we can make a go of it. The little speeding ticket I procured a couple of days ago didn't help my cause [https://rennlist.com/forums/showthread.php?t=267452]. But I'll be out of the doghouse soon.

Thanks and Peace,
Tim

Hi Rob,

I was very tempted to join the group buy, but also had to prioritise other things.
Very pleased that you will take this up as a regular business.
I will definitely want a dark blue leather kit in the future.
(no cheap flights or travel plans to Sweden?)

Looks can be deceiving. That's really my Sunday school class.
Actually the picture is from the Woodward Dream Cruise in 2004.
Some of us (928 owners) met at a Tim Hortons for coffee before the cruise. It happened that a photographer picked the same place to meet his models. Big Dave asked him if he'd like some shots of the girls with the 928s.
The photographer got some good pics, the girls loved the Porsche's, and Dave I got some explaining to do about our new screensaver.

Now we're talkin! Sweden! Never been there.
Yes Sweden is included But I think's there's a nominal flight charge of $125 or so.

I had a few folk on the fence that wanted blue. No one commited though.

Ahhh New Jersey,, memories of , pine barrens, NJ Turnpike, oil refineries, Seacaucus, working for a loan company in downtown Newark, collecting money from folk that were "The Salt of the Earth" as my old boss used to say on payday at the rail yard in Trenton & Newark, and docks in Hoboken, Elizabeth and Bayonne.
Yep,, its coming back to me now.
Why did I ever move away from there,,, hmmmm,

Sent you a PM Rich. I'll do it.
