Probably a front end hit. Knock a foot or so off the front of ANY 928 and it is toast !

My avatar shows the calipers from that car. 23K miles and a right front hit. Really nice, but gone.

Some of the good parts were already gone when Carl, Bill C. and I got there. Carl and I got some good stuff off of it.

There was still a LOT of good stuff left - this was 6 months ago - but the dismantler didn't know with what he was dealing, let a few parts go for real cheap (GTS 5-speed tranny for like $1800!), and then got really gun-shy about selling even a single bolt before checking on the value eight ways from Sunday.

We worn him down and mad pains-in-the-asses of ourselves until we got what we wanted at the prices we (mostly) wanted. I think we spent almost 3 hours with the guy selling the parts. Carl and Bill worked over the seller while I showed the hatchet guy how to take out the console without destroying stuff.

I had like $4800 in my pocket in case the guy would let stuff go for cheap. Funny!!

BTW, I told the seller not to sell the fuel door, as it was unique to the GTS rear quarters. Naturally (being the sly fox that he was) he didn't listen and sold it on Ebay for $65. IIRC. It's probably costing more than twice that to replace it.

BTW Jim,

Your book time of 24hrs is right on the money, and I don't think there is any paint in that labour, just metal.

I should be able to get down to under 20 a side.

Jim, do you have any used GTS rear QTR mouldings?

I was hoping to get to 928 INTL this month, but I am not getting anywhere near the Pacific

Yup, that would be me. The fender liners on my black 95 were falling apart.

You know, since you're planning on doing a lot of welding anyway, you could have a whole lot of fun at things like SITM simply by building the car a few inches wider. That rear end is split longitudinally already...

Well, as long as we're disclosing what organs we took.... I have the HVAC head, rear 6" speakers, slave cylinder, final ignition stages, a bag of hard-to-find-otherwise bolts, one fog/driving light assembly, and some other stuff that I don't recall.
