Something in the CD insert/eject mechanism has broken or jammed in my CD-2 head unit. Has anyone had similars problems and gotten it repaired? Any leads on where to send the unit to get repaired?
Otherwise the unit works and sounds great. Common sense says to dump it and get a new head unit but, I'd really like to keep the factory original look.
His website says no more repairs on these units, no parts....That said, maybe it can be fixed. Let us know what he says. I've got one with a dead CD player-inserts and ejects OK, just doesn't play.
Stefan says that there are no more parts available from Alpine, (I didn't realize it was made by Alpine), to repair the Porsche CD-2 head unit.
His suggestion was to go with a refurbished CDR-220, a later model Becker unit, which he sells with an adapter cable for $470.00. This unit does have one aux. input so you could add a changer or Ipod cable etc. Still $470 is not cheap for a basic AM/FM-CD.
Russell, I have a CD2 I bought off of a Rennlister to replace my stock GTS unit, but the GTS had changer control which the CD2 does not have. It was my mistake and I was thinking of putting it into my 83S, but if you want it.... it has the amp also and mounting brackets. I've never installed it, but I can get you the Rennlister that sold it to me if you want to talk with him.
