wiring in fuel pump/filter compartment

Question wiring in fuel pump/filter compartment

replacing fuel filter over the week-end i noticed an extra wiring circuit in the fuel pump/filter enclosure.2 wires one male,one female connectors.
cant figure out what they are for.any help would be appreciated

Your car should also have an in-tank fuel pump as well: are there two wires running alongside the outlet hose from the tank? - or two bare connectors at the threaded flange?

looks like they are running alongside the outlet.
i am sure it is there for a reason but cant figure out where to hook them up.
i tought 1989 had only one pump
