Thanks for this post. My cruise, odo, and speedo all stopped. I ordered a cruise control (Tempostat) brain and all everything works now.

So... Failing speedo, can have something to do with cruise brain? Neither works for me, but I haven't really tried to fix it that much. Just cleaned the connector in the spare wheel well.

Where is the cruise brain located? EDIT: nvm, found out by searching Passenger side, dash.

In my car, an 89 S4, the cruise control brain (Tempostat) was bad. It's failure caused the speedometer, odometer, and cruise control to all stop working. I ordered a replacement from 928 International....

Thanks to xzl6Bb1 for raising this old thread from the depths.

I needed to see and read this to help some cars.

Very beneficial

I also know that JHowell has identified a source for rebuilds that could help someone.

On the other hand, utilizing 928 International is also a great solution. Never disappointed with them!

My speedometer is working, but my odometer and cruise control arent. The cruise partially works by accellerating when you set it, but wont hold the speed once you let go.

Does anyone think that replacing the cruise control brain could fix my odometer?
Thanks!
