the guy i bought my 79 from offered me the original phone dials. What do you like better, the phone dials or the slotted rims?

 

I'm slightly biased though...

 

...and the slots are forged!

 

I prefer phone dial's of course when they are 16's. But off course that is what came on my 79.

 

Phone dials are the coolest.

Forged wheels are stronger and generally lighter than cast wheels. From what I've heard, phone dials are soft even compared to other cast wheels. Slots are very strong wheels.

 

The dails are soft watch out for potholes and curb.

 

I cant stand the way the slotted wheels look, I'd go for phone dials all day long.

 

the forged flat S wheels are lighter and much stronger due to being forged pressed into shape by tons of force in a press instead of cast from molten aluminum like the phone dials or later 928 wheels like design 90 or all GTS rims.

 

Forged, with one inch spacers on the rear. If the car has the groovy pychedelic interior, go for the PDs and be PC.

Forged = stamped/pressed more than once and that is stronger for the same material thickness as per cast.- fewer flaws.

The 16" phonedials on an original belonging 928, I think perhaps an 83- is something I'd love to accrue-some day.

 

Slots that are machined to look like Design 90 or Club Sport wheels.

 

I remember a post somewhere on Rennlist that Slots don't give the best cooling ability to the brakes.
