Voltage issue UGH!

OK so I am drivng along today and suddenly my voltage gauge show a hair above 12volt then when i stop it drops to just above ten then get moving along then it jumps little above 12v when i frist got the car this week it was 12.5 to 13.5
Hereis the deal when i go over ahard bump it suddenly starts charging?

IIRC, in other threads you refered to missing the engine under shields, did you replace them, if so, did you knock loose the main battery wire at the alternator, BTDT!
Or is the alternator loose and the belt is slipping...

May be only a bad contact within the instrument loop: confirm the actual charging and battery voltage at either the battery or jump start post. If the charging voltage is below of 13.8v and battery less than 12.3 - then start looking.

OR - you have a loose connection to the voltmeter (mine works about 15% of the time).
You can't trust them anyways! I found a digital voltmeter that plugs into the cig lighter...cost me around $15. Worth every penny to know the truth!

They're notorios for being inaccurate. If the alternator isn't working you'll get the warning light. Until then, I wouldn't worry too much as long as a digital volt meter confirms that things are working properly under the hood.
