air conditioning o'rings
hi guys
going to do some bits to the shark over easter including the airconditioning.... i want to change it to R134(???) i know you have to change the o rings and the compressor oil.... what rings do i need as in what rubber????? just normal o rings or something special like viton????

they are green, nitrile. Don't know if nitrile makes it green or what, but I bought a various sizes bait box of seals (on sale) for $20.00. 928 Int'l cant tell you what you need, I think they are about a buck each, regardless of size.

Visit your local parts store, and locate a kit of o-rings. It will be a lot more than you need.
When I did mine, I asked DR to put together a kit of all the o-rings I'd need, and he was able to supply them. I'm sure that Jim or Tom at 928 Int'l can easily do the same for you. Along with the o-rings, you'll need new expansion valves, and a new drier. I ended up buying the compressor o-rings that are under the two manifold plates locally. The hoses were also rebuilt locally with barrier hose, and the adapter fittings for the charging ports were also found locally.
I recommend that you buy your parts at one of our Big 3-5 vendors, if for no other reason than you'll be sure to get parts that fit. The generic parts like the charge port adapters can come from a local store, and you may decide to buy new hoses rather than hassle with the hose rebuilding process. That way you'll have all the parts ready to go in before you pull anything apart. There is a real value to that, as it can help you avoid a (week)day of delay/gap in your work on the car.
Use the polyolester oil in your conversion if you can.
