interesting board especialy the albums page. to me it begs the question of why you would do this yourself. i mean why would you create a front engined V8 porsche when you can have one like that from the factory?! obviously people are attached to the 944 body shape but to me the 928 makes a better platform to begin with the intention of modification. its wider and comes with coilover suspension and better brakes as well as more substantial transmission and is already setup to accomodate V8 power. true it is heavier but this can be remedied and if you need more power simply add a blower
i think if i were doing this id look at a more exotic v8 from the east, one that was smaller and lighter and revved... altenately id wait untill one of the new audi V8s crashed!

It's not worth the 0s and 01s. If it is about the race, there will always be a faster car somewhere. It could be ***** envy. Myself, I have garage envy. 'Cuz mine (garage) is too small.

No doubt
I am continually amazed at the other boards who think 928 guys would be threatened by this. There are only 1 or 2 guys I have seen here that have a problem with the fact there may be a car out there that handles better or is faster than our 928's. Of course there is, it just can't do both

I knew a guy once back in the day who took a Ford Pinto or something to that effect (maybe it was a Vega) & he souped it up & dropped a chevy big block in it that put out 500+ ponies or he said... Soooo was it a really still a Pinto? or is that 944 still truly a Porsche with a Chevy engine???? The guy I knew with the Pinto, he used to brag that could beat vettes, 911s....etc... was there really any braggin rights to say he beat them in a Pinto???? I think not... that car stopped being a Pinto as soon as he changed the engine out.
I know there are some who want to keep our sharks purely stock or original & thats cool. I'm all for upgrading and improving them with modern improvements myself. But dropping a cheby engine in a 944 or 928 goes a bit far to me. As just said, why not take a 928 with its stock V8 & add a turbo or SC if you want to maximize the horses & the car still be a true Porsche. That guy a couple months ago wanting to race Sniper with his top secret souped up 944 at least still apparently had a 944 engine to go along with the Porsche body, chassis & drivetrain......
