Default 83-95 Flywheel Lock

OK guys, as most of you know, I recently sold my Black 86.5 to another Rennlist member, and he has requested I go ahead and change the timing belt and water pump which were due for replacement anyway. So, I have agreed to do this for him, and have been putting together my "parts list". Anyhoo...Much to my surprise, I fine that the cost of the "flywheel lock"...has mushroomed, or shall I say "ballooned" to over $70...and closer to $80 from "some sources"...Call me cheap, but I think thats "boo-coo dinero" for this part. Anyway, the point of my post is not to be a whiner, but to see if any members somewhat local to me (St. Louis suburbs), or anyone anywhere... could loan me their flywheel lock for 1 week, while I complete this job for the new owner of my baby. I really don't want to shuck out $80 for one and only use it once, and then try to sell it on Ebay . I'd be happy to provide my address, phone number, hell even my firstborn son as collateral, (you can keep the son)... anyway, I need to see if I can borrow the flywheel lock for a few days. I am ordering the parts today, and I don't mess around when it comes to repairs. I "Git Er Dunn". Any one able to help me out with this part, please PM me, and I will be most grateful.

I forget whether you have an auto or a 5-speed. If you have a 5-speed, put it in 5th and pull the parking brake.

It's an automatic Matt... I know the 5th gear, parking brake method of locking the crankshaft, but its not applicable in this case. Thanks.

Jeff,
Send me a PM and I will have one in the post tomorrow.
Best,

Thanks a bunch Roger. I hope to have another 928 "sometime" in the near future.. (hell I'll be 50 in August)...Crap,....apparently it's too late to get "in early", on the Flywheel Lock stock price boom...the price has already jumped way up...so SELL- SELL- SELL....

Jeff,
I think I have my flywheel lock here in STL. Last time I used it was at my Dad's house. If you need it, let me know and I will take a look for it. I live 1 mile from Westport and can probably meet you somewhere if you need it.

Thanks for the offer Mike, but I have already PMd Roger, and he is sending his up by Priority Mail. I'll have it in hand by the time the parts arrive from 928 Intl. Thanks again.

No joke Fraggle...you have to have this tool or the whole job becomes "un-doable"...
And the going rate is between $70-$80. So, if you don't have one...its a "seller's market" for sure...

Hence another reason why 5-speeds are soooo much more valuable.
