Just got Hans's tweeter cups and they are perfect for this application when using the same tweeters he originally did.

The ADS tweeters I tried to fit in them are easily twice the size. So some mods are needed

All in all they are great and I highly recommend anyone with 84+ door panels to use them in place of the original tweeters.

Hi, Hans. I took a look at my tweeters in the doors of my '89 and they have seen better days...both the frame and the cones. I was thinking about your solution here, and if you still had a set of mounts/covers and then I would just order the tymphany tweeters. It looks pretty plug and play from there. Do you still have sets of those and would they fit an '89?

I haven't checked the tweeters in the rear recently, but I do know they are toast. Do you know if they are the same tweeter units as the fronts?

Thanks for checking!

I have plenty more of these. I just need to run down and get another box out of storage.

The mounting pattern is the same front and back, but you may not be able to get the driver in there with the angle. You should be able to make a small adapter ring to mount them flush and just cut out the angled section.

This is a door tweeter enclosure (the tweeter fires forward at a 20º angle, apparently to bounce the sound off the windshield) sized for an MB Quart 25 tweeter. It's set up for gluing the tweeter in, but before I finalize it I'll probably make the tweeter snap in.

Anyone need one? Any improvements you'd like to see?

do you still have this file?

Yes, but on installation I discovered that I had mismeasured, and the outside diameter was too small for the stock cover. I printed a little shim, and it works fine.

It's in Fusion 360; I can probably export it to whatever format you want.

thanks for the response!

I'm upgrading the speakers in my 87 928 and I noticed that the later year 928's with the 10 speakers have a different tweeter sweaker, does the speaker grille snap on or does it screw on?

Hi! Could you kindly send me a copy of the file? Fusion 360 format would be perfect. But if you could also export a second copy in SolidWorks (*.prt or *.sldprt) format, that would be extra awesome. Thank you so, so much!
