Hi Guys,
I finally got around to checking the timing on my 79 Euro. It was a little sluggish in mid range. It turned out to be set at 6BTDC. I had it set to 26. However when we removed the vacuum line from the distributor, there was no change in the idle at all. In fact there seemed to be no vacuum on the line at all. Is this an indicator of a larger leak somewhere else or does it just open under higher rpm's?
Thanks,
Frank Barnhill

You did check the timing at 3000 rpm, correct? 6 degrees is about right if you're checking at idle speed. I seem to recall the factory spec being 31 for your year?
If you have only one distributor hose, then it is for vacuum advance, and uses ported vacuum. Ported vacuum will only increase at cruise, IE. part throttle, higher rpms.
