Default Turbo Twists

I have an opportunity to pick up a set of 18x10 turbo twists with @8" backspace. I trial fit them on the S4, and they extend beyond the fender about 1/2", so I really need a pair of the negative spacers.

Alternatively, if someone is interested in a pair of these with near new 285s Hankook Ventrus on them, then I could look for a set of 18x9s to fit on the front.

And if I can work the above deal, I will have a set of 17x9 and 17x7.5 turbo twists available. These are the standard back spaced set of turbo twists.

Or has Louie completed his front flares yet

Stan,

If they are OE TTwists, and are 18X10 ET 65, then they will protrude about 1/2 in.... They do on mine as well.. With the Konis and 600# springs in front, no rubbing on the street though turn in is primo..

Front flares sound sooooooooooooooo good...!

Jacquemond has a set of front fenders with flares............................

Hi Richard,

Not sure if these are OE or not. How is the ET 65 determined? I measured from the back of the hub to the edge of the wheel, and get @8". They do extend about 1/2", as you say yours do. I will be running the stock suspension though. Did you ever run yours with the stock suspension? Do you find the wheel extending out to be an issue by kicking up stuff on the car, particularly when it rains, etc.

I really like the idea of the 18x10s in the rear...

Hi Stan,

The ET 65 is stamped next to the valve stem on all OE Porsche new style wheels. Et is Einpress Tiefe, or offset in mm. The OE wheels are 65mm neg.. OE wheels also have a 996 part number on the inside. Not sure who made the TTwist for Porsche, but the Carrera Lightweights are made by BBS.

As far as backspacing goes, I think the 8in backspace is about 65mm neg.. They only extend out in front. In back I run a 12mm spacer and it is close to the outside lip. In front i run a 3mm spacer so I can clear the brake calipers with my lightweights. I think TTwists clear without the front spacers.

Yes, I do get stuff flung up on the car in the rain.

No, I never ran the 18X10 in fron with stock suspension. I ran 18X8 ET50 in fron with stock sport (474) and stock ride height.

My car is now lowered, and I think it's 155mm +/- 2mm all around. Konis are set at full stiff..

I like the 18X10 all round for even wear and rotation, and the turn in... It's like bang, right now pivoting....

I don't have an ETnn stamped near the valve stem, so either not OE or been painted?

I am addicted to wide wheels, and always like the same front and rear. Both my sterr/track M3 and my track only 928 have the same width wheels and tires front and rear.

You are intriguing me further. If I took picture of it on the car, would you be able to confirm it looks the same?

How bad is the dirty aspect? I am terrible by many standards when it comes to cleaning my cars. I drive them, and clean them when it bothers me. Touchless car washes are great for me. So, I can live with a minor issue, but certainly don't want to have to live to keep the car clean.

Thank you again!

Send a pic.. I'll take a pic of mine and send you later in the week as well if you wish..

No ET near the valve stem suggests to me the wheel is not OE, but could be a Miglia wheel.. The ET lettering would show through paint unless it was very thick....

As far as cleaning, I have an annual pass to my brushless car wash where people stand inside the wash and hand wash the cars.... Dirty... Well it's relative.. mine gets muddy everytime it rains and I drive it.. I live in farm country.... then, I drive a bit faster, and it washes all off...

Cheers,

The 993 hollow spoke twists came in either an ET 40 or ET 65 in 10 inch widths. If they are factory it will have the reaised width and offset on either side of the valve stem which would be metal.

Since we have an open whee thread going, how will the 2005 Carrera wheel fit a 79?

Front: 8" X 18" OFFSET 8 - 57
Rear: 10" X 18" OFFSET 10 - 58

Right now I have 8x17, 9x17 - et52 front and rear - fits fine.

I mount the wheel, and get a picture.

fyi, for those interested in understanding the determination of the ET number, I found: http://www.fourstarmotorsports.com/C.../Wheels_62.htm So, in my case 10/2 = 5 - 8= -3 which translates to 76.19, so probably a 75mm offset.

Maybe it's too early for my brain, how will adding a spacer pull the wheel in?

Erik, Your absolutely right but Stan was doing a little tongue in cheek I think when he stated a "negative" spacer.

Alright, that is what I thought. I know there are some ways to pull in some serious negative camber on these cars, for a second I was thinking he was just saying "spacer" referring to this.

Anyone have any ideas about the wheels I found in the post above?

Eric,

Sorry about starting your day with a brain teaser. Tass and I were discussing whether I should post this topic to Rennlist, and he mentioned the need for a "negative spacer"

Oh yeah, bring me into it

So how's it going so far Stan? Has wishing made it so yet?

Keep trying...they'll fit eventually

BTW...your sock wrench worked perfectly brought it up 3/4" for the first test.

Tass
