Default Smog Pump

I was wondering if I could remove this without having any problems? It still works fine but ut just seems like its a waste of power and space. 86.5 manual live in MO (no pollution testing).

The easy answer is yes..............I removed mine from my S4 for the same reasons.

Not difficult but does require patience and my non-petite mitts hands some cuts and bruises when all was done.............do a search on removal.

I replaced the standard exhaust with a Xover and cats. The modern cats don't require an air pump, so I removed it.

Replace the smog pump with a 22" lawn mower belt from NAPA. The new belt will allow you to run your factory mechanical fan.

I've read that removing the smog pump can cause issues with the catylitic converter.

The main issue is now the cat is less effective, meaning its' time for that X-pipe!

Mine has been off for 3 years now..no problems. The air pump adds air to increase the efficiency of the catalist. does nothing else. You can go one step further. Remove the pipe on the right valve cover. The rear cross over pipe and fitting into the rear of the heads. There are 2 plugs you can install to cap off the rear head fittings. I can get the part number is needed. I got mine from Dave Rodgers at 928specialist.
