It's amazing to find a car like this, but I wonder, what was the purpose of the original owner for buying this car? He didn't drive it, and he didn't make any money on it.

I just realized this doesnt have option code 639 (special version GT '89)
wonder if this is just an S4?
edit:
not on the printout I did, but it's on the sticker! this IS A GT
also has option code 046?? not sure what that is

Nice ride, but unrealistic price I suspect.
I can't imagine six figures. $60,000 yes. I sold a 1988 928CS USA legal for mid 50's with only 5,400 miles on it and absolutely perfect. Only two of those in the states that I know of compared to 60 plus 1989GT's. I would love to have it, but I would drive it. I drove the CS twice in fact. Cool with the extra weight out of it.
Just my opinion.

I've been following this and I think he has one of the rare non-GT 89 5 speed, with a host of nice options. But, IIRC, the 639 defined the engine trans combo that came with the GT cams, and the 2.73 ratio. Not sure, mind you, and still a georgous car, but maybe not a GT with out the provenance of the engine codes and trans codes. OTOH, it does have CS rims, which would be a GT candidate, but the option 639 is the kicker for the hot engine.
If it were offered as a GT, it needs to have those numbers checked. I think the value to the non-928 community wouldn't bring > $50k. It will most likely stay in the 928 community and go for something above that.

Some pretty rare super low mileage ones too. They range from 356s all the way through the Carrera GT. He has told me that he would love to add a 928 to his collection if in his words "I could find one as nice as your 95 GTS" (he has not seen the frog yet). I'd say this one certainly qualifies..... I also told him about the frog when it was on eBay and when he didn't buy it I figured WTH, I had to have it!
Kevin asked me to keep his identity quiet until the deal is done at which time I could reveal a link to his collection. Stay tuned.
[edit with afterthought] Tony, you would probably be particular interested in the 94 3.6 turbos in his collection. He has two that I know of, one is the regular version with under 1,000 miles and the other is a flat nose with ~1,300 miles. Super nice cars......

Interesting how these low mileage Porsches command such a high price. A friend of mine who is a Ferrari, Lamborghini dealer picked up the last public released Countach S ever manufactured, I believe it was an 89 also. It less than 100 delivered miles on the odo and was never registered. The original owner paid a pretty penny for it yet when he went to sell it he couldn't find an interested buyer. My friend picked it up for less than 1/2 its original selling price. I remember when he came by with it on his flat bed it still had the original plastic on the seats from the factory it looked and smelled brand new.
I don't think I could buy any car like this new and not drive it a little. Unless I bought 2 at a time.

Today, while in Raleigh on business I stopped by Road Scholars to take a peek at the GT. What an awesome sight to behold this thing is! It could possibly be the nicest 928 I have EVER seen (shhhh, aside from the frog of course) in my life. Talk about stepping back in time.... words just cannot describe this thing! If ever there was a 928 worthy of $100k offers this is it. I could go on and on but here is what you really want to see:
btw, it is going into the private collection I mentioned earlier in this thread.

VERY nice and unbelievably pristine for a ~17 year-old car. Although I know it will be comfortable the rest of its days, it really is a shame that such a fine machine has never had or will have its legs stretched...
EDIT - Except Chuck's 1 mile jaunt...

Thanks Chuck,
Great Pics
Nice color combo, no brake dust, clear and clean pod glass. Wow what an interior.
Check out the hood insulation and the suspension parts.
What is that silver tray underneath, some kind of second protection piece?
There appear to be dark letters above porsche on the back??
It is incredible!

hmmm just thought of how this perfect GT is a similar dark green color to the "S" model Shark in the six foot poster thats being reprinted. Seems to justify to me that green colored Shark on the poster now knowing that this Shark is still out there as the pinnacle of an example.
