Default coolant leak at regulator housing

I've track done a coolant leak on my 88S4 Auto at the "O-ring" gasket at the regulator housing as it goes into the block. Has anyone ever removed the regular housing without removing the intakes? I've got about 1-2cm. clearane between the top of the housing and the oil filler spout. Does anyone have a picture of the regulator housing off the block so I can see how much protrubes into the block, below the O-ring, to discern if I can remove the housing without a removing the intakes? Thanks Ed

If you are speaking of the coolant crossover that holds the thermostat and bolts to the heads, I think it goes into the block about 1 inch IIRC.. I have an open one at home, and can measure it for you later if you wish.

It's possible I believe to get it off, but it's tight, and will bump up against the oil filler neck. After the years of heating, the oil filler neck may crack if you bump it too hard..

Yeah Ed no biggie, a suitable set of jointed extensions and a narrow allen socket will do a fine job. Common issue.
