1986.5 sensor question

Default 1986.5 sensor question

OK guys...after reviewing the manual...I have to ask this Q...below the air filter box, on my 86.5 auto trannsed car...there are (2) electrical sensors...the first, (closest to the intake, and the furthest toward the front of the car...is what I suspect is the "Impulse sensor"...also known as the "speed-reference sensor"r....then there is another sensor, just below, and toward the firewall, from the aforementioned sensor...like I said,... after reviewing the manual, I am "suspecting" that this rearmost sensor is the "TDC" sensor...it has a shielded cable, that runs to a "test" terminal...l which on my 86.5, is secured to the intake manifold rear set of tubes (closest to the air filter box...in the center). IS this the TDC sensor ??? and would it cause any problems, if the shielded cable...at the test connector were broken or its integrity "compromised" ???this appears to be the case. Car seems to run and start OK...but the shielded wire is definitely broken, just below the screw that secures the "test port" to the intake runners... Any advice, or input would be appreciated...

Remove it. I've never seen or heard of one being used outside the factory setting. But if you must have it, I have 3-4 I'd sell cheaply.

Well Scott...I would like to know for sure exactly "what is it"...before I remove it...I would be interested in buying one of your's if it turns out to be a necessary item...I can't imagine why it would have been included...if it weren't in some way "needed"...So, thats the intent of my post, to find out what this rearmost sensor is...and if it is in some way important.

OK Scott...Thanks.. this is a "unnecessary" part then ??? I can just yank it...and suffer no adverse consequences ?? If so...its outta there. Hell ther is so much crap stuffed into that area (under the air cleaner box in around the MAF sensor)..that anything "disposable"..would be an improvement. Thanks for your patience, and advice.
