I think I'll go with your plan......it's exactly what I wanted to hear ! Hopefully reality won't bite me in the a$$ when I drill into a bracketless door
If that happens I can get the few needed pcs from a spare door.

Anyone had a door for sale without a mirror bracket? Racer budget door, needs paint, no dents, you can keep the guts.
My door has the bracket, but also needs a small amount of body work (little ripple from the Glen a few years ago). I want to get rid of the mirror holes since I use a large rear view race mirror and don't use the side passenger mirror.
