Thats the mystery alarm LED....its a mystery since it doesn't blink and the car doesn't even have the factory alarm? The PO's said it had one, but nobody had remotes or knew where it was? I can't find it either?

Today I took the stock 6.5's out to shop for a replacement speaker....the area behind the speaker is smaller than I originally thought....another bummer is no new speaker would drop in to the stock location either, I would have to make a plastic shim to make it fit correctly in the stock speaker grill. I noticed that the 6.5 was wired in series with the little 4" in the trunk....it even had a capacitor to serve as a crossover for the 4"...nice touch for an 18 year old speaker...I disconnected both smaller rear speakers to drop the ohm load to 4 ohms vs the 8 ohms before....that should double the wattage the deck puts out.....once it was back together...it does sound better....a touch more bass out of the stock 6.5's without the annoying high end sound coming from the rear deck....It still has no bass, but its good enough for now.

Some people seems to have used the outer ring on the factory rear speaker as a spacer for the new ones.

PO has installed some pathetic excuse for an alarm above the pedals.
Was a black plastic box stuffed by the driver's parcel tray.
Only had a few transistors/capacitors on a circuit board.

6.5" JBL speaker squeezed into the rear enclosure of mine OK. It was
pressing into the foam insulation.
Had to fab spacer rings for the very shallow 4" door speaker.
I wonder if I even can hear the 4" speaker all the way back in the rear deck.
Good ballast (albeit bit high) for rear wheel traction.
PO had the rear speaker wires cut just barely long enough. Electric wires don't
really stretch.

You can make the din removal tools out of an old coat hanger....thats what Bill B made when we moved the stereo to fix the HVAC vacuum solenoids...worked great and cost $0.00! I don't know about a pre-made wiring adaptor (one that will bypass the amp)...I think they made ones to work with the amp, but not bypass it. Its pretty simple really...only 4 speaker wires to cut and splice into the new decks outputs....no biggie! The wiring diagram in the WSM lists all the colors-locations
