Oil pan swap between engines
My 81 needs a new oil pan. Many may remember my issue with the stripped drian bolt, it's time to pull her out again to fix it for good.
I know a few people with engines lying around, they do not need the oil pans. Is there a specific year that is preferred? Will any year 928 oil pan fit any year engine? 928 Specialists shows the same part number for all years for the new silicone gasket, just want to make sure before I tie up my friends lift.

928intl shows a different oil pan starting in 1989. As for whether or not it will fit on an older model I don't know. But you can always just play it safe and get an 88 or older.

My PET lists one part number 1978-86 928 101 208 00 then changes up to a 01 in 1987............no reason given.
Inerestingly the same pan gasket is listed for all years therefor the pans must have the same bolt patterns.

The older pans also had bolt holes for the old style oil pickup. They makes installing a GTS baffle easier since you don't have to drill and tap holes.
