My best guess is that some sort of aftermarket alarm sensor / switch was fitted to the original centre console and the hole was extended to suit. My own alarm (clifford) has its controls mounted in much the same way. I don't have any additional aircon? controls mounted at these points.

Out of interest I just called my two local Porsche stores and they are available for $378.24 each.

2 years ago they were $160 usd from DLR.
However that being said, I think prior to that there was a 6 month waiting list for them (some DLRS saying NLA).
Guess Porsche realized that they can sell them for more.
