BTW, I should have mentioned that the oil thermostat sits just above the sender so it's easy to do since you're already in there, just remove the fitting that the sender screws into. It's an inexpensive part as well. Best wishes!

This is weird. Can anybody offer an explanation?
My oil pressure gauge works perfectly well, but opposite to every other description I've heard. It's always been this way. With ignition off, or even with battery disconnected, the gauge needle "parks" off the 5 bar end of the scale. When I turn on the ignition it moves to zero, and when the engine runs it works normally. ie 2 bar at idle and about 4.5 at 4000rpm warm.

It's idiosyncratic and I like it, so I'm not going to 'fix' it. Just curious.
