Any oil experts here? I'm trying to compare Mobil 1 truck & suv to Castrol Syntec , both 5w40. I have free supply of Castrol syntec.

Both far exceed the requirements of the engine...Doug Hillary from Australia is the Rennlist oil Guru and has documented his oil analysis tests.

Hi,
of course Jim is correct - both oils exceed the engine's requirements. Castrol Syntec 5w-40 is a Porsche Approved and Listed product
When changing from a SAE50 viscosity to a SAE40 viscosity oil you may notice a drop in hot idle oil pressure (OP). As long as it is above the "oil light on" situation all is well. Most engines show from 1 to 2.5bar hot idle OP with a SAE40 oil, with a normal hot operating OP around 4bar+ at 4k rpm
Regards
Doug
