Anyone rebuild AC control units?

Had a similar problem on my 84. My blower would stay on after the key was turned off. If I released the AC button, it would turn off. Replaced the diode I picked up a Radio Shack for 1.49 and its works great. I screwed up at first and put it in backwards because mine was so burnt, I could not read any of the letters or see the line on it.

Hi John,
The John to whom Justin was referring is a neighbor of mine who has done some inadvertent electrical "experimentation" involving a water leak and some brains.
What do you charge for rehabbing an AC head unit?

OK Ernest ;-)
The charge would be a nominal one. I've not seen a diode burned out, but the transistors fail very readily. If the motor goes hard over to one position, then the transistor can't take the strain.....
Postage would be the large part of the cost involved with a rebuild - so total cost about 50USD.
