Default Door lock non functional

In a classic "two steps forward, one step back" process, I replaced a broken driver's door hinge on our 84 928s. Door opens nicely now.

However, the driver's door lock is now no longer working. I swear I put all the pieces and connections back in place, but there is no movement of the door locks when I turn the key in the driver's lock. All other forms of door locking work, but I can't lock/unlock the doors from the driver's lock.

Given the frailty of the door moulding pins, I hate to keep taking the door apart. But if someone has a suggestion, I'll gladly get back in there.

Sleety and grey here in Chicagoland. Shark stays in his tank today.

Peace,
Tim

If memory serves, the tumbler has separate linkage to the locking mechanism than the electric actuator or the rotary dial inside. You probably either missed connecting it, or it came off. Sorry. Not too much room in there.

I think this is the linkage you need to work on. (Where the green sight-marks are.)

Andrew:

Thanks! What with the pix, I couldn't have asked for more help! You're right, the room is pretty cramped in there. My favorite is the security plate. Oh well, back into the door we go.

While I'm in there, is it a good time to replace the gasket around the lock?

Peace,
Tim

Andrew:

Your suggestion proved to be the remedy. Man, they sure pack a load into that door. That little white junction piece was a bear to get onto the socket. But it's on now and the door locks/unlocks cooperatively.

Thanks. If you're ever in Chicagoland, I owe you some suds.

Peace,
Tim
